Elizabeth Haynes, Director
The Whitewater Middle School Bands are under the direction of Elizabeth Haynes, who is entering her sixth year of teaching, and second year at Whitewater.
Ms. Haynes earned her undergraduate degree in music education from Auburn University in 2010, and completed her master of music degree in music education from Louisiana State University. At Auburn, Ms. Haynes was a member of the AU Marching Band, Pep Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and various chamber ensembles, as well as member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity and College Band Directors National Association. At LSU, Ms. Haynes was a member of the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds, as well as serving as a graduate teaching assistant in the music education department and earning membership into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Ms. Haynes has previously taught at Phenix City Intermediate School in Phenix City, Alabama.
In 2014, Ms. Haynes earned the WRBL Golden Apple Teaching Award. Ms. Haynes has served as an honor band clinician at the Talladega County Band Director’s Association All County Honor Band, the Tallapoosa County Schools Honor Band, and a director at the Fayette County Middle School Band Camp. Ms. Haynes currently plays in the Alabama Winds, a Birmingham-based performance ensemble, and is a member of National Association for Music Educators.
