Performances:

All performances count as a test grade. All 7th Grade Concert Band members are required to attend performances.

Football Band (7th and 8th Grade)

The members of the 7th Grade Concert Band have the option of joining football band. The football band will perform at the home football games and pep rallies. To be a member of the football band the student must complete the following requirements: 1) play the audition for Symphonic or Concert Band and 2) attend the scheduled rehearsals and games. Any 7th Grade Concert Band member who has attended the rehearsals and performances for football band and 7th Grade Concert Band and have shown a superior behavior and attitude will be eligible to go on any scheduled spring band trip.

    1. The 7th Grade Concert Band will rehearse occasionally afterschool. Leave Wednesday open for that rehearsal day.
    2. To be in 7th Grade Concert Band students must attend rehearsal. Students can be removed from the performing band for missing rehearsals and performances.
    3. If a student needs to be absent from a rehearsal, then a note signed by the parent explaining the reason must be given to the director before the absence or the absence is considered unexcused.
    4. Please try to schedule all doctor’s and dentist appointments on days other than rehearsal days.

Instrument and Music Storage

    1. The band room has shelves that can be used to store instruments during the day. Since shelves do not have locking doors, it is a good idea to put some type of locking device on the case. This will help in providing maximum security.
    2. All instrument cases and books must be clearly identified with the student’s name at all times. The completion of this will be used in the grading process.

Supplies Needed For Class:

Each student will need a 1/2inch clear vue notebook, 10 sheet protectors, and a highlighter. THE GOOD NEWS-the band is buying all these supplies at a greatly reduced rate. The whole package of supplies are only $3.00 and you don’t have to go out and buy them yourselves. We will collect the money the first week of school.

A band handbook will be sent home later that goes into greater detail about all aspects of the band program.

Books needed for class:

7th Grade Concert Band: 1.) Standard of Excellence Book and 2.) Winning Rhythms
